We built GUIDON to help veterans, not to harvest data. We do not require accounts, we do not collect your personal information, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. Here's the detail behind that promise.
What the GUIDON app does with your information
My Claim Checklist — your checkmarks are stored only on your own device. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.
Offline Guides — bundled inside the app; they work with no internet connection and collect nothing.
Push notifications — if you allow notifications, your device generates a push token (a technical identifier that lets notifications reach your phone). The token is stored on your device and used only to deliver notifications you opted into. You can turn notifications off anytime in your device settings.
Crisis Line buttons — tapping "Call 988" or "Text 838255" opens your phone's own dialer or messaging app. The call or text is between you and the Veterans Crisis Line; the GUIDON app is not involved in the communication.
What the website (goguidon.com) collects
The app includes an in-app browser that loads goguidon.com, and this policy also covers the website itself:
Google Analytics (GA4) — we use Google Analytics to understand which pages help people most (page views, approximate region, device type, and interaction events such as button clicks). This is aggregated, anonymized usage data. We do not see who you are.
No accounts, no forms that collect identity — the site and app do not ask for your name, email, or records. If you email us directly, we use your address only to reply.
Links to official sources — when you follow a link to VA.gov, the National Archives, or another site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
What we never do
We never sell, rent, or share personal data.
We never ask for your VA login, service records, or claim details — and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. Official claims work happens at VA.gov or with a VA-accredited representative.
We never charge for information. GUIDON is informational only and is not legal advice.
Children's privacy
GUIDON is intended for veterans, their families, and caregivers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and note the change on this page.
