Where to Get Your Service Records
Request your DD-214, service treatment records, and personnel records through VA.gov, the National Personnel Records Center, or your branch personnel command.
How to Submit Evidence to the VA
Upload through VA.gov for immediate confirmation, mail to a regional office, hand-deliver, work with a VSO, or submit evidence with your claim before a decision is issued.
The VA’s Duty to Assist
The VA must help obtain service records, schedule exams, and obtain VA medical records. Do not rely solely on the VA: get copies and submit them yourself.
Tips for Strong Evidence
Be specific about limitations, use VA Form 21-10210 for buddy statements, keep copies, organize evidence by condition, include a timeline, and avoid duplicates.
